If you have a cordless drill put a wood drill bit in one used for drilling large holes, it has a paddle blade say a 15mm. Use it to drill lots of holes through the cork wedge heel, see how many you can drill before walking in them to see if they collapse. Once they do burn them! The black suede mmm....

Shame to destroy them straight off... I think getting your wife to model them in the mud is a spot in idea.
